Botox For Your Wedding?

By Anne Fennell

As wedding season approaches, many couples are putting the final touches on their plans for this momentous occasion. Naturally, every person wants to look their best for the big day. Hundreds of dollars is sometimes spent by both women and men on beauty products and skincare treatments, in the run-up to their wedding.

During the stressful few months before a wedding, a facial or a back massage is the perfect way to relax. You can unwind by going to a spa or getting your nails done, even if all the planning can get extremely hectic. In the wedding scene, another option is growing in popularity. More and more brides and groom-to-be's are turning to Botox to look their best. There is a lot of pressure to impress at a wedding; it is important that you feel confident in your skin, because the pictures are going to stay with you for the rest of your life.

How much in advance of the wedding is the best timing for getting Botox?

At least one month before the big day, you should have the Botox injections. It is always important to do a test-run; if you have never had it before it is understandable that you may feel a little nervous, even though Botox treatment is quick and safe. We advise you to have it done at least a month before though, because it can take about 7-14 days to see the full effects after the initial treatment.

When you are arranging wedding activities like stags and stagettes, keep in mind that you should avoid alcohol, facial massages and extreme changes in temperature such as steam rooms and saunas for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure.

Botox injections are relatively painless but you might find that you experience slight tenderness and mild pain during the injection. Immediately after the injection, there may be some minor swelling; however this normally settles after about 30 minutes. You may also get some slight bruising the next day, which is relatively uncommon, and is why we recommend you to get it done in advance.

The frown, forehead and eye wrinkles are generally treated sucessfully with Botox. During the big day, you may find yourself overwhelmed with emotions and this may be evident in your facial expressions. If you want to get rid of some wrinkles before your wedding, Botox can help you do away with frown lines in the area between your eyebrows, crow's feet around your eyes, or unwanted horizontal lines across your forehead.

Hyperhidrosis treatment, also known as excessive sweating treatment, is another treatment which is becoming popular to have before a wedding or other significant occasion. Sometimes, in response to hot temperatures, stress or emotion, people sweat excessively, so this could be a concern for a momentous event like your wedding.

Make sure, if you are are considering Botox and are engaged to marry, that you have it at least one month prior to give enough response time for your muscles, and to get the benefit of the full effect.
